Safety and Environment
Brookfield Renewable operates a high-voltage transmission line between its High Falls hydroelectric facility in Bowman and its Masson facility in Gatineau.
Do you own property adjacent to this transmission line?
The proximity of a high-voltage line poses risks to the safety of people and goods, but Brookfield Renewable takes measures to minimize and mitigate those risks. Complying with the rules set out in the Together, for your safety and ours brochure (available in French only) will help ensure the safety of the activities on your property near the high-voltage line. If you plan on doing work close to the high-voltage line, please refer to the brochure.
Each year, we inspect the corridor under the line and remove trees, shrubs and debris, if needed.

Do you know what to do in the event of a flood or dam failure?
In the Lièvre River watershed, the 16 riverside municipalities, their citizens, and the relevant ministries and agencies are now better prepared to act in the event that such a disaster would occur. With the support of dam managers and the regional civil security organization, the municipalities and ministries prepared an emergency response plan and communicated it to the population in the Fall of 2010. Although this jointly-prepared plan could be useful for any type of disaster, the scenario used for the process was a flood or dam failure.
Brookfield Renewable is proud to be an active member of the group of 60 regional organizations striving for better emergency preparedness and increased public protection.
