We are committed to being a leader in socially responsible practices. Growing our business in a sustainable way is one of our main concerns and we believe in protecting the ecosystems where our assets are located, as well as promoting local partnerships. We believe in building a business with honesty and integrity, balancing economic goals with long-term sustainable goals, and keeping an open dialogue with the communities where we operate.

Some of our projects

Project: Passo Amigo

Located in Bom Jesus, Rio Grande do Sul, the “Passo Amigo” project uses equine-assisted therapy to improve the lives of children with physical and mental disabilities. Children treated in the program have benefitted from the interaction with horses to improve a variety of conditions, including hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, cerebral palsy and emotional trauma. The participants should preferably be enrolled in a public school and receive the support of a multidisciplinary team of professionals specialized in health and education.

Project: Vamos Todos Ler
Responsible for implementing seven community libraries in the state of Minas Gerais, the initiative believes that books and reading can integrate schools and communities. Each library, which must be a part of an educational institution, receives a collection of new books covering different areas of interest and age groups. Specific members of the community are trained as “reading agents”, people who embrace the commitment of promoting and multiplying educational activities within their communities.
Project: Produção Agroecológica Integrada e Sustentável
With a strong focus on the environment and sustainable development, this initiative offers assistance to local farmers who opt for sustainable agriculture, planting fruits and vegetables without the use of pesticides. Located in Rio Grande do Sul, the program gives the necessary support, information and tools for families in rural communities who want to farm without chemical substances. Since its implementation, more than 30 families have benefited from the project.
Project: Oficinas de Artesanato e Cidadania
The Project “Oficinas de artesanato e cidadania”, in Cataguases, Minas Gerais, teaches members of the community to produce handmade products such as cards, boxes and notebooks, and learn to sell these products to increase their income. The institution responsible for the project receives funds from Brookfield to purchase materials and equipment that will aid the production of goods. Part of the profit goes to those enrolled in the program and the rest is invested back in the project. About 70 people are selected to participate each year.
