European Community Engagement

As a long-term owner and operator of renewable power assets, Brookfield believes it is important to be an active partner in the communities in which we develop projects and operate. In Europe we offer a community benefit program for the communities around our development and operational sites designed to support community development in the following ways:

  • Community services
  • Educational programs
  • Medical and health assistance
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability
We have supported a range of community initiatives, examples include:

  • Support in developing  the Sliabh Sneacht Community Heritage Centre close to our Sorne wind farm in Co. Donegal, Ireland
  • Funding the development of Kilcommon Windwalker Hub and Trailhead project close to our Garracummer wind farm in Co. Tipperary, Ireland
  • Support for the  in-construction Girvan Leisure Centre in South Ayrshire, Scotland located close to our pre-construction Tralorg wind farm
Brookfield Renewable Europe operates in line with the following regional guidance with regards to community benefit:

  • IWEA Best Practice Principles in Community Engagement & Community Commitment (Republic of Ireland)
  • NIRIG Community Best Practice Guidance (Northern Ireland)
